More Maverick’s on the way

As things go, the swell’s come up and another Maverick’s day may be upon us. More on that to come later today or tomorrow depending on what happens up north (right now Surfline’s calling it 18 to 20 feet with occassional 25-footers). “Should be a good, clean day,” told Maverick’s correspondent Frank Quirarte last night. “It’s a pretty solid swell and the conditions are exceptional.” But until we hear from Quirarte again, here’s a few highlights from the last swell … as well as a few comments from the ever-present peanut gallery.This is part 2 of from Mavericks on Jan 6th 2012.This was the day of the Mavericks Invitational Opening Cermonies.

This is Short edit we helped film of Mavericks in Half Moonn Bay on Jan 3rd and 5th 2012.
The waves were 20-30 feet and Hollywood was on site filming for the documentry “Of Men Mavericks”
A Feature Film Documentry about the life of Pro Big Wave Surfer Jay Moriarty.
These photos were taken last weekend at the Sacred Craft A Tribute to Local Legend and Surboard Shaper Doug Haut.
This Video is a tribute to Sion Milosky who passed away on March 16th 2011 while surfing Mavericks.

Santa Cruz’s Jimmy Herrick scored a win and $500 in the pro-am division of the Volcom Totally Crustaceous Tour’s Greatwhite Surf Series finale, which abandoned Pleasure Point’s small waves for 26th Avenue’s 4- to 6-foot swell Saturday.
Herrick also earned 1,000 points in the second Santa Cruz regional toward qualifying for the tour’s VQS World Championship. That event offers a $50,000 purse and is schedule for May 13-15 in Newport Beach.
Marco Foreman and Santa Cruz’s Brad Fox were second and third, respectively, in the pro-am division.
Jenn Balester won the girls competition, with Bo Stanley in second and Harbor High’s Carly Wilson in third.

Feb 5th 2011 saw clear skies and pumping waves for the for the final stop in the Volcom Great White Surf Series at 26th Ave in Santa Cruz, California.
